Hi Guys,
Today we will see how to install and configure Informatica 9.5.1 Powercenter in Windows Server 2008 R2 environment. This consists of a step by step process of the installation of Informatica including creation of Domain metadata, logging into admin console and configuring Repository metadata and Integration service. Few lessons learnt by me during this installation was : ALWAYS BE CAREFUL WHILE NAMING YOUR DOMAIN. This is because I named the domain a little bit differently than the client wanted and had to uninstall and re-install Infa again (might have had some workaround, but nevertheless would never had been easy).
PreRequisites:
Installation of Informatica also calls for a set of prerequisites. If we are interested in installing only the Powercenter and not the other components such as IDQ or MDM then it calls for the below minimum system requirements:

Installation of Informatica also calls for a set of prerequisites. If we are interested in installing only the Powercenter and not the other components such as IDQ or MDM then it calls for the below minimum system requirements:
Informatica
follows a distributed system architecture. Hence it would be preferable to install
server and client components seperately in different nodes. This would
ensure harnessing Informatica’s full potential
towards Data Integration solutions.
But before that we
must have a database installed to store Domain Metadata as well as Repository
contents (in our case Oracle). The repository is nothing but a metadata storage
area where all the related information about mappings, sessions, exclusively
defined parameters, user roles and privileges etc are stored for integration
service to read.
After creating a database,
we must also create a user having full privileges on the database which is
mandatory for Informatica Installation. The required privileges are given
below:
CREATE and DROP tables,
indexes, and views.
SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE data from
all the tables.
CONNECT, RESOURCE and CREATE VIEW privileges.
Informatica would
use the ports 6005 to 6009 for connecting to client and hence such ports must
not be used by any other processes or blocked by firewalls. Also the appropriate version must be
installed on the supporting OS with enough CPU’s, disk space and temporary disk
space.
Informatica actually has a prerequisite tool present that helps you check whether your system has the necessary configuration to install the corresponding Informatica version. It mostly resides in Informatica server installation folder under the name I9PI.exe
The document having the step by step screenshots of the installation process can be found here.

how i can get MDM for informatica 9.5.0 and installation process
DeleteHi There,
DeleteNice to be visiting your blog again, it has been months for me. Well this article that I've been waited for so long.
Given this, I would be surprised to see anything on the test that was not covered in the modules, as it relates to the Cloud tool and topics covered about SalesForce. I would presume questions that test general ETL transformation knowledge based on past PowerCentre tool experience.
But great job man, do keep posted with the new updates.
Kind Regards,
Irene
ReplyDeleteThanks for the elaborative article..

Hello,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the timely post, at least for me.
I have encore time wondered about the transition , but somehow did not dare, because the information I came across very controversial.
But today, after reading your article I’m very confident to take up any challenges.
I know the snytax for executing the pmcmd command and deciphering the return codes. What I need to understand is how to get the running workflow name from the gettaskdetails command. Do you know how to do that?
Appreciate your effort for making such useful blogs and helping the community.
Obrigado,
Rahul
Hello Buddy,
ReplyDeleteThank You so much for this blog. It helped me lot. I am a Technical Recruiter by profession and first time working on this technology was bit tough for me, this article really helped me a lot to understand the details to get started with.
I am not configuring any trust or validation rules on this column, purely based on the which ever has the higher value will survive into BO.
For Persistent Identifier module we need trust enabled columns and Jar License if i am not wrong?
I found an issue here, is once the highest value is picked up from the PostMerge UE code, it would update the BO column, but the same BO record having a rowid_object "123" would have an XREF record too . In this case the xref would also get updated with the updated value and wont it cause inconsistency in data ?
As we have 50% trust for the 2 src systems, how can we achieve through trust and validation rules in this case, because I cant write a Custom validation rule as we are using DB as SQL SERVER. So, in this case, how can I handle it through Trust and Validation rules or through Post Merge?.
I look forward to see your next updates.
Regards,
Irene Hynes
Hello There,
ReplyDeleteVery cool to see your post come up when I was searching this topic!
If the pkey_src in stage exists in BO_XREF then it updates the XREF table and based on trust/recency the update to XREF will propagate to BO. Informatica MDM Training USA If the pkey_src doesn't exist in BO_XREF it inserts a row in XREF table and also inserts/creates a new BO with a new rowid_object (unless it is a load by rowid in which case XREF will be created but added to an existing BO record for which rowid is given in mapping and if it would survive to BO or not is dependent on trust/recency)
But great job man, do keep posted with the new updates.
Cheers,
Preethi.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteNice tutorial! Let's keep our fingers crossed that this works. I would like to put this all to rest.
I think it went in different direction , I am not going till match merge I am just asking about Load job . Informatica MDM Training
I loaded one record with 90 percent trust and then I am loading same record with 70 percent trust (I downgraded the trust)
Once again thanks for your tutorial.
Many Thanks,
Irene Hynes
